Mandy

Mandy is a Vocal Coach specialising in Jazz Interpretation, Music Theory, Vocal Improvisation and Scatting. Based in Rotterdam, Mandy is teaching all levels from the age of seven and up, in one-to-one sessions and in groups. Mandy gives lessons online and from music studios around the city in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Mandy is a vocalist, composer, arranger and bandleader born in Guangdong, China, and currently based out of Rotterdam, the Netherland. She gives vocal technique, jazz/Pop/folk singing and music theory lessons. Besides being passionate, motivating and inspiring in teaching music, Mandy also focuses on creating crossover music between the east and the west. Mandy's love of traditional Chinese music and poetry, influences of western jazz, Latin and pop music would be heard in her transnational, trans-cultural music project.

In 2011, Mandy obtained her bachelor degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music with Excellent Graduates Award in Vocal performance of Pop music. And in 2020, she successfully obtained her Master degree in Jazz Voice from Codarts. 

Mandy's repertoire includes jazz, pop, folk and Latin sang in Mandarin, English, Cantonese, Spanish or French. From traditional to modern, from popular to avant-garde, from China to international crossover world music, she embraces all styles and genres of beautiful music.

Mandy has performed throughout China and worked with a diverse range of artists in jazz, pop, Latin and world music from across the globe, such as French vibraphonist Benoit Stasiaczyk, pianist Cedric Hanriot, Luxembourgish pianist Marc Mangen, Latin percussionist Gerardo Rosales, and Dutch jazz saxophonist Dick de Graaf.


Mandy has been on a constant pursuit of improvement and perfection, she has participated in masterclasses and workshops with the many notable musicians such as Michael Leagues (Snarky Puppy), Joshua Redman, Richard Bona, Alfredo Rodríguez, Pedrido Martinez, Becca Stevens, Gene Aitken, vocalist Eva Meier, Charito, Claron McFadden, Francien van Tuinen, Susanne Abbuehl, Berklee vocal teacher Gabrielle Goodman and drum teacher Yoron Isreal, percussion teacher Bart Fermie, Latin pianist Peruchín (Los Van van) and drummer El Peje, Japanese guitarist Koshiro Iwatani and Greek singer Petros Kouloumis.
